Key points of the presentation
The patient perspective on new treatment options for hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, Neil Smith, patient representative, UK Presentation now available for download.
Key points of the presentation:
- Early diagnosis and treatment of the condition can help with the patient journey, especially psychologically.
- The condition is not the same as self correcting delayed puberty. It can be difficult to distinguish between being a “late bloomer” and a case of hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, investigation by a reproductive endocrinologist before if puberty has not started by the age of 15 in females or 16 in males.
- There are different treatment options available for teenage patients in the form of gonadotropin therapy that have the potential to help with future fertility treatment and help with the self image and psychosexual wellbeing of patients.
