Our hospital is part of Endo-ERN: improving care for rare endocrine diseases

Our institution is proud to be a member of Endo-ERN, the European Reference Network for rare endocrine conditions. Endo-ERN is one of 24 European Reference Networks (ERNs) established by the EU to improve care for people living with rare and complex diseases.

ERNs connect specialised healthcare providers across Europe, allowing expertise to travel without the patient needing to do so. Through secure virtual consultations, shared clinical guidelines, registries, education, and research collaboration, ERNs help reduce inequalities in care and support timely, accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Endo-ERN at a glance

Endo-ERN covers all EU Member States and Norway, bringing together over 100 expert healthcare providers. Endo-ERN is unique by supporting care across the entire lifespan, from childhood through adulthood meaning our contributors are both adult and paediatric endocrinologists.

Since its foundation, Endo-ERN HCPs have treated over 150,000 new patients with rare endocrine conditions. In 2024 alone, 21,052 new patients were referred to Endo-ERN members underlining the significant clinical burden and ongoing need for coordinated rare endocrine expertise.

By participating in Endo-ERN, our hospital contributes to cross-border expertise sharing, research, education, and the development of best practices that benefit patients locally and across Europe. This work also strengthens our role as a recognised expert centre within a European network dedicated to rare disease care.

As we approach Rare Disease Day, we invite colleagues to take pride in this contribution and to help raise awareness of the vital work being done through Endo-ERN — for patients in our hospital and far beyond.
