CPMS Newsletter Summer 2022

CEF & CPMS Header

As the first half year of 2022 has passed, we look back on the work completed  and want to update our members with our latest news and dates for the next months!

System Usage

CPMS rounded user data Newsletter June

Our current use of CPMS is shown above and a comparison with previous years is shown below. We are delighted to welcome our new members and users since January 2022.

Though we have the highest number of users in CPMS of all the ERNs, our number of panels is lower than expected. In this newsletter we offer tips and tricks on how to naviagte the system and best incorporate CPMS into your regular care schedule.

ECE & ESPE 2022

  Booth 1

We were of course glad to see many of you stopping by our joint Endo-ERN, EuRRECa, ERICA and EuRR-Bone at ECE 2022! It was great to see some of our new members make the effort to see us alongside the many interested visitors we received who were curious about our network. If you missed the chance to see our booth at ECE, please check out some of our photos and posts from Milan. And of course, mark down the date for ESPE 2022 (Sept. 15th-17th) to meet us once again!

CPMS Training

Since the beginning of this year, more than 600 clinical centres became new members of the ERNs. Some were already affiliated partners but many were new, meaning that there are plenty of newcomers to the ERN community. Therefore, our technical support team , DG Sante, recently ran a training session focused on the basic use of CPMS, targeted at the users who have signed up as of this year, as well as those who haven’t yet had a chance to receive an introductory training on the use of the CPMS.  The training webinar recording is available in the help section at the end of the newsletter.

We would like to thank all who participated in our Endo-ERN CPMS training workshop. Save the date for the next training workshop, especially for Endo-ERN CPMS for the 30th of September. If you are interested to make an appointment for individual advice session, please do not hesitate to contact our Operational Helpdesk for Endo-ERN.

Financial Pilot Scheme

From April this year the Endo-ERN is part of a CPMS pilot financial scheme. For our ERN, the criteria is as follows - for each panel completed within a HCP in CPMS can be rewarded with a financial support of 200 Euros i.e. the HCP of the panel lead qualifies for this money. After closing the panel, a panel lead is asked to fill in a quick survey that includes their panel ID via direct email from the Operational Helpdesk. This includes further instructions on the reimbursement process.  We would like to evaluate if this financial support increases the motivation and numbers of CPMS panels.

Many thanks in advance for your feedback and your panels. Enjoy the financial support!

Calling All Non-Experts!

Young doc images

Most of our CPMS members are specialized experts in adult or paediatric endocrinology for many years. Unfortunately not many endocrinologists still in training, or who are not fully specialized yet, have joined the CPMS yet. Therefore, we suggest that you motivate already your endocrinologists in training to apply for the Endo-ERN CPMS. Everybody could benefit, as the young endocrinologist could learn from rare endocrine cases and support their supervisors to upload the patient data to the CPMS system. Additionally, they may even get experience in presenting a case that they require assistance with – after all the system is meant for REACHING the experts, not just FOR the experts!

Webinars for CPMS

The aim for the next sixth months is, in parallel to the life normalizing after the covid-pandemic again, to increase CPMS usage and also the amount of webinars. Every MTG is asked to offer at least one topic specific webinar each year. Every member is invited to propose a webinar they believe is relevant to the rare endocrine disease community. This can include interesting anonymized cases from one of your CPMS panels. Please do not hesitate to contact the Operational Helpdesk with your ideas!

Tips & Tricks

  • All the patient information areas available are not mandatory! It is possible to upload a powerpoint. And discuss as you would in an institutional presentation – fully anonymized of course!
  • Starting a panel can be daunting for some but practice makes perfect! The basic steps of inputing the information for a patient are 4-fold ; consent , DOB, patient ID for your HCP, Patient ID
  • Time on average to enroll a patient = 10 minutes or less (including log in)
  • Time to create a patient panel = takes up to 15 minutes on average (can be longer dependent on the additional data you want to offer)
  • Logging in to enroll the patient, have their patient file on hand to add the details you decide are necessary. You can always add more information if you want at a later stage e.g. before a meeting
  • Logging in to CPMS in your chrome browser allows you to remain logged in until the bowser is closed – the session might time out but one click of the refresh will return your access, you don’t need to log in again!
