University Hospital Královské Vinohrady serves as a clinical teaching base for the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University. The hospital was founded in 1902 and became a teaching base of the Faculty of Medicine in 1946. Since that time, it has evolved in a modern complex hospital and one of cornerstones of Prague and Czech medicine.

2nd Department of Medicine, which is a seat of endocrinology, is complex department of internal medicine specialised in endocrinology, diabetes, gastroenterology, lipidology, intensive metabolic care, clinical nutrition and also general internal medicine. It cooperates closely with other departments of hospital and also with highly specialised centres in Prague.
