ERN Workshop “CLINICAL RESEARCH: THE BASICS & BEYOND” WORKSHOP IN CLINICAL EPIDEMIOLOGICAL RESEARCH FOR ERNs”

In the context of EJP RD’s ERN Workshops, a face-to-face workshop on clinical epidemiological research for ERNs titled “Clinical Research: The Basics & Beyond” (consisting of presentations by experts in the field of epidemiology and a feedback session on the research projects of participants) is being organised by Prof. Olaf Dekkers and Prof. Frits Rosendaal of the Leiden University Medical Center.

The in-person event will take place over two days on 30th September and 1st October 2021 at the Hotel Golden Tulip Leiden Centre, Schipholweg 3, 2316 XB Leiden, the Netherlands.

The workshop is open by prior registration and selection to medical specialists affiliated to an ERN Full Member or Affiliated Partner institution and who have a special interest in clinical research with databases. Registration closes on 18th June 2021, and those selected to participate from among the applicants will be informed by 9th July 2021 of their selection.

The ERN Exchange Programme 2021-2022, funded by the European Commission, has officially been launched as per March 1, 2021. The programme is a great opportunity for clinical exchanges in ERNs.

What/who are we are looking for?

• Healthcare professionals, expanding (or sharing) their knowledge by visiting another ERN member center

• Hosting centres, providing an interesting program for the visiting health care professional(s)

We have the pleasure to inform you that prof. Evangelia Charmandari has been appointed by the Endo-ERN Steering Committee  as the new Paediatric chair of MTG6-Pituitary.

ERICA Kick-off meeting

The European Rare Disease Research Coordination and Support Action -ERICA kick-off meeting / 1st General Assembly (GA) was held 27th and 28th May 2021 and was chaired by the Coordinator Alberto Pereira (Endo-ERN coordinator, Leiden University Medical Center, The Netherlands).

The GA served as a virtual platform to kick-off the project and to ‘meet and greet’ online both the WP leaders and the other participating experts.

The international Rare Disease research was represented at the highest level, including presentations by the chair of the International Rare Diseases Research Consortium (IRDiRC), by the CEO of EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe, by the coordinator of EJP RD and European Commission representatives.

During the assembly beside the plenary sessions, the Work Package (WP) specific Expert Working Group (EWG) sessions were organised.
